RecFest

RecFest is an event held by the University Recreation Center at UNC Charlotte. The event kicks off the start of the school year and serves over 3,000 students, along with vendors and campus partners. I was tasked with creating all assets which included the logo, t-shirt, and promotional graphics for print and social media. Assets were used across campus and seen by thousands. RecFest is critical in introducing new students to the recreation center and services. It builds community and a sense of belonging at Charlotte. It is a beloved event that staff and returning students look forward to annually.

Following is a week-long campaign called GlowRush that RecFest marked the start of. See more under Glow Rush.

The Event

The Shirt

Each icon on the back of the RecFest t-shirt represented an event that was held later in the week as a part of Glow Rush. The t-shirt was handed out first come, first served to 300 students who attended RecFest.

The Digital & Print Assets

The Process

Moodboard

I always start projects with moodboarding in order to get a sense of where the project is heading and let the ideas flow.

RecFest started with a 90’s theme that transformed into neon and a combination of the two.

Sketching

Sketching allows for ideas to get on paper quickly without technology getting in the way.

I can make several drawings quickly while they are fresh and always have something to refer back to.

Iterations

Here I can see what ideas are translating well from paper to software and narrow down concepts until the final version comes out.
